Small Batch Coffee has two locations in Brighton, one up at Seven Dials and the other at the end of Norfolk Road where Finch Lodge is located. During working holidays we’ve often forgone the coffee in house and gone on the short walk to Small Batch Coffee to pick up some fresh brew made by someone else. There’s usually a purchase of some cake as well.
Aside from the usual coffee house supply of cakes, pastries, coffees and sandwiches, Small Batch Coffee also sell directly their beans and offers beans, equipment and training commercially. They’re deep in the coffee producer system and you can tell from the taste. Getting your coffee served straight from one of Brighton’s independent suppliers is a great start to any day.
On a personal basis, the Norfolk Square location for Small Batch Coffee is one of our favourite coffee houses in the city. Not just because of the food and drink but because it’s an undeniably beautiful setting with an outdoor bar and leafy interior.
There’s been more than a few days where we’ve visited for a coffee and stayed for a sit in lunch. Especially if we can nab a seat on the East facing outdoor bar.
If you don’t get a seat at the bar - which is common - there’s usually seats inside with some access to power sockets for remote working. Whilst it’s not outside in the morning sun, it’s still comfortable and offering a wide range of food for lunch and breakfast. Highly recommended.
