Just south of the Lanes you’ll find the Brighton installation of the London focused Patty & Bun, one of the new breed of burger merchants focused on providing the largest dopamine hit grilled meat sandwiches can provide.
Said burgers are fantastic - they’re juicy, sweet and have just the right balance of ingredients. The burgers are generously sauced, yet far from falling apart. Chips are evenly and thoroughly seasoned and include a variety of cuts, leaving you with a selection of small crunchy samples at the bottom of each serving.
Alongside the burgers are a range of cocktails and a few draft beers. Pictured below is the Pineapple Express which matched what I was looking for on the day - sweet with a hint of tang. Unfortunately, this isn’t a place with a wide collection of drinks, so you’re best getting in, getting said burgers defeated and getting back out to the local watering holes to continue.
A visit will cost up to £20 per head with burgers sitting at just over £10 each and fries bought separately. This particular venue has never been short of seating with both large outdoor and indoor spaces - we’ve not had any issues getting seats and haven’t had to wait yet. With Brighton locations being on the smaller side we’d often default to Patty & Bun for the best chances of getting seated and fed immediately rather than walking around the town trying to find space.
It’s a reliable and delicious detour before heading back to Finch Lodge or up the road to Brighton station.
