Well into the Hove part of Brighton & Hove, Baked is a bright and modern brunch house that serves up breakfast dishes you wish were more readily available. Sure you can have the house breakfast, Egg Royale, Egg Benedict, even a full stack of pancakes, but why would you when when you can have a set of Huevos Rancheros or Chorizo Eggs with all the chorizo.
The tacos as part of the Huevos Rancheros are brilliant, with full crispiness provided also served with all the chorizo.
The menu is a comprehensive breakfast and brunch treat-fest but also comes with the option of a prosecco side to help with any recovery.
What really makes the meal at Baked special is the coffee and the location.
The americano is rich and thick with plenty of flavour. You can tell that Baked give a damn about serving remarkable coffee. If you’re of a sweeter persuasion they also have you covered. The image above is no latte, it’s a Lotus biscuit toffee latte containing pure flavour. It’s worth the visit to try one alone just so you have the memory of a flavoured latte of this standard.
Outside is a full service east facing kerbside dining area. The traffic can be noisy, however, with the positioning you’re guaranteed sun all morning. If you’ve woken up on a sunny day, it’s guaranteed sun + coffee + food induced boost.
One thing to watch out for - Baked is popular, very popular. Head there early to ensure that you find space. It’s just down the road from both The Blind Busker and Finch Lodge.
