Imagine you’ve been up early, you’ve been working hard up until mid morning and you’re nursing a level of hunger that is starting to erode your mood. Fika will fix that and bring you back to a happier place. You need one of these:

Baked
Well into the Hove part of Brighton & Hove, Baked is a bright and modern brunch house that serves up breakfast dishes you wish were more readily available. Sure you can have the house breakfast, Egg Royale, Egg Benedict, even a full stack of pancakes, but why would you when when you can have a set of Huevos Rancheros or Chorizo Eggs with all the chorizo.
Small Batch Coffee
Small Batch Coffee has two locations in Brighton, one up at Seven Dials and the other at the end of Norfolk Road where Finch Lodge is located. During working holidays we’ve often forgone the coffee in house and gone on the short walk to Small Batch Coffee to pick up some fresh brew made by someone else. There’s usually a purchase of some cake as well.

The Mash Tun
The Mash Tun is another pub in Brighton however, this one lies right by the Museum and Victoria Gardens at the bottom of the famed Lanes. Compared to the other pubs in the area, the Mash Tun has a few unique characteristics that are worth keeping it in mind:

The Christmas season is approaching in the UK and thus a reminder that 2022 is coming to an end, Finch Lodge has been open to guests for a few months having completed renovations at the end of Summer and our first set of guests have enjoyed everything it and Brighton has to offer. We’ve been wonderfully surprised at how much our guests enjoyed their stay and we’re ecstatic that so many of our guests have enjoyed their stay

Nowhere Man
Nowhere Man is both a fantastic name and a completely unique pancake house hidden just behind Western Road on the same street as both Easy Tiger and the Craft Beer Co. We’re happy to report that when we say pancakes, we don’t mean french crepes, we mean chunky, fluffy and fully stacked American pancakes like this:

Boudica
The Boudica is a newly opened eatery and provided a core part of the energy we used revamping Finch Lodge over Summer 2022. Having a local business serving healthy breakfasts and lunches at the end of our road felt like cheating. Especially when the meals look like this:

Patty & Bun, Brighton
Just south of the Lanes you’ll find the Brighton installation of the London focused Patty & Bun, one of the new breed of burger merchants focused on providing the largest dopamine hit grilled meat sandwiches can provide.
Said burgers are fantastic - they’re juicy, sweet and have just the right balance of ingredients. The burgers are generously sauced, yet far from falling apart. Chips are evenly and thoroughly seasoned and include a variety of cuts, leaving you with a selection of small crunchy samples at the bottom of each serving.

Craft Beer Co
In between our first boutique hotel Finch Lodge and Brighton Station lies the Craft Beer Co Brighton outpost, a traditional style pub with a modern serving of craft beers. Part of modern beer culture involves sampling and enjoying as wide a range of beers as possible and we’re happy to report that Craft Beer Co Brighton has over 24 taps hosting a variety of styles.
